Ironman Cozumel 2023

Participating in Ironman Cozumel has brought me immense joy and gratitude. The sheer magnitude of completing a 1.2-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run is a monumental task that demands months of dedicated training. It often appears insurmountable until the very moment you cross the finish line. One must possess a genuine desire and push themselves to earn this achievement.

Cozumel, although slightly off the well-trodden path, offers an outstanding setting for an Ironman race. The water is exceptionally clear, teeming with tropical fish. The majority of the bike route is exclusively reserved for the race, winding through secluded beaches. The final leg takes you through the heart of the town, where enthusiastic supporters and even a marching band create an atmosphere that lifts your spirits during those last few hours.

After the race, Cozumel Island becomes a secure and marvelous destination for a family vacation, with its stunning beaches, snorkeling around vibrant coral reefs, and perhaps even a few cervezas.

At first glance, these activities may seem like individual sports, requiring swimming, biking, and running. However, the truth is that it is a team effort, encompassing the support of spouses who handle the responsibilities of getting the children ready for school, granting you extra hours for training. It includes the companionship of local athletes who join you in those early morning hours. It involves the guidance of coaches who lead you through numerous workouts, refining your skills as the daunting race day approaches. It incorporates a team of bodyworkers and fitness instructors who assist in your body's recovery and optimization. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported me along this journey!
